The studio wants to build on the game’s success and bring fresh energy back to the Harry Potter franchi. In recent interview with Variety, Warner Bros. confirmed that the Harry Potter franchise remains a top priority. This is already clear with projects like Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking, a new cooking show inspired by the magical world.
The biggest focus, however, is the upcoming HBO series based on the original Harry Potter books. It is a bold decision, especially since the movies are still loved by fans around the world.
Will Hogwarts Legacy 2 be about Harry Potter?
The HBO Harry Potter series will begin in 2026. It is too early to judge its success. Fans are also excited about Hogwarts Legacy 2. Warner Bros. has confirmed the game will align with the HBO series. This does not mean it will focus only on Harry Potter. Like the first game, players may create their own character.
That character could attend Hogwarts alongside Harry, Ron, and Hermione. We are likely to see familiar students, teachers, and wizards. Warner Bros. may also choose a different path and focus fully on Harry’s story. Some key game moments may appear in the HBO series as well.
When will Hogwarts Legacy 2 be released?
There is no official release date for Hogwarts Legacy 2 yet. However, we can make an educated guess. Warner Bros. wants the game to align with the HBO series. The show is set to begin in 2026. That is around 3–4 years after the first game launched. This timeline could be enough to develop the sequel, especially since the first game already built the core systems.
Avalanche has already built Hogwarts Castle, Hogsmeade, and a strong combat system in Hogwarts Legacy. Over the next four years, the studio can refine and expand these features. Because of this, a 2026 release for Hogwarts Legacy 2 would not be surprising. Still, longer development cycles could push the launch to 2027.
What consoles will Hogwarts Legacy 2 be released on?
The platforms for Hogwarts Legacy 2 are not confirmed yet. If the game launches in 2026, we can make a reasonable guess. The first game released on both current and older consoles, which was impressive. However, the sequel will likely skip last-gen systems. Focusing on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S would make development easier and improve quality. Next-gen consoles like PlayStation 6 are also not expected by then.
Is there a Hogwarts Legacy 2 trailer yet?
There is no trailer for Hogwarts Legacy 2 at this point. The game is still in an early stage of development, so it’s too early to release any trailer footage. If Warner Bros. follows the same strategy as with the first game, we can expect the first trailer sometime in 2025 or 2026.
