Myha’la Herrold believes in celebrating what makes people unique. As a kid, she faced many moments where she had to accept her differences. She learned not to care what others thought. One example is her smile. Myha’la loves it. But some family members and even dentists told her to change it. She chose to stay true to herself.

The Industry star has two peg lateral teeth. These are small, pointy teeth next to the front top teeth. Some people may not get why she kept her natural smile. But Colgate sees its beauty. The brand teamed up with the 28-year-old actress. Myha’la talks about this new partnership in an exclusive with Necole.

 Myha’la Herrold Loves Her Unique Smile

“I have two peg lateral teeth,” Myha’la says. “They’re tiny teeth in the front. They are my adult teeth, but they’re small. They look different. Lots of people have them. Sometimes they don’t match on both sides.” She says many people try to change them. “A lot of people get them capped or filled,” she shares. “So many times in my life, random dentists came up to me. They handed me their cards and said, ‘Whenever you’re ready.’” But she never felt the need to fix them. “I was like, ain’t no way,” she says. “There’s nothing wrong with my teeth. Nothing is wrong with my smile.

”Myha’la calls her Colgate partnership a “perfect pairing.”  She says it’s important to always look like herself. She also takes great care of her teeth. The Leave the World Behind actress is part of a powerful movement. People in her generation are choosing self-love. They are standing up for themselves. Millennials and Gen Z are also talking more about mental health. They are making self-care normal and speaking out against old beauty rules.

Myha’la’s Easy Tips for Healthy Skin and Teeth

“My first tip is to double cleanse,” Myha’la says. “Washing your face twice is very important. It helps clean your skin and keeps your pores from getting clogged. This matters even more if you wear makeup or sunscreen. ”She also shares a bedtime tip. “Sleep on something soft, nice, and clean. This helps keep dirt, oil, and dead skin off your face. ”And of course, she doesn’t forget about oral care. “Brush your teeth twice a day once in the morning and once at night,” she says. “My favorite toothpaste is Colgate’s Total Plaque Pro-Release.”

Myha’la Herrold on Sex in Storytelling

“I love and respect when sex is part of the story,” says Myha’la. “It should have meaning not just be there to shock people or get views.” She praises writer Lena Dunham. “Lena is so good at that. She really understands it,” Myha’la shares. She also talks about her own experience. “Doing that first scene with her in episode one was awesome. It set the tone for the rest of the show.” For Myha’la, the goal was clear. “We wanted to show sex the way it is in real life. That was our focus.”
