His father was one half of the hip-hop duo Out kast with Antwan Patton, known professionally as Big Boi. Out kast was formed in 1992 and went on to become one of the most influential hip-hop groups, with the duo releasing six albums during their run before their indefinite hiatus in 2007. They won six Grammy awards, including accolades for their albums Stan konia and Speaker boxx The Love Below, which spawned hits such as “Hey Ya!” and “Ms. Jackson.”

Since then, André 3000 has had a successful solo career, including the release of his debut solo album New Blue Sun in November 2023. It earned three Grammy nominations, giving the artist 28 total nods.

He was a top student

For Badu, quality education was at the top of the list for her children, including her son Seven. She has two younger children from previous relationships.  He was initially homeschooled for kindergarten and first grade, with Badu explaining in a 2009 interview that she “wanted to give [him] special attention academically, to give him an advantage.” She said that this helped her son learn “how to solve problems in a nontraditional way,” which served him when he was enrolled in a traditional school. Badu added, “He enjoys challenges . He pushes himself .  He does his  homework voluntarily.”

The singer-songwriter also shared that he strived to do his best by having good attendance, arriving to school on time and staying organized.
